Anambra Election Tribunal neglects to hold pre-hearing on petitions
Anambra Election Tribunal…The two pre-hearing sessions planned for Wednesday at the Anambra Election Tribunal have neglected to hold because of the powerlessness of the boards to sit. The petitions were between Rep Dozie Nwankwo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Mr. Valentine Ayika of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The other was between Rep. Obinna Chidoka of the PDP and Mr. Ifeanyi Ibezi of APGA. Nwankwo is testing the triumph of Ayika for Anaocha, Dunukofia and Njikoka Federal Constituency in Petition no. EPT/A/HR/07/2019 while Chidoka is challenging the triumph of Ibezi for Idemili North and Idemili South Federal Constituency in Petition no. EPT/A/HR/26/2019.
Reporting the racking of the sessions, Falilat Orire, Secretary the council, said it was because of a minute ago changes in the assignment of cases to the boards. Orire said the three boards that would hear petitions in the Anambra Election Petitions Tribunal had been comprised and were on the ground. She said the parties would be informed their booked dates when it was prepared and apologized for the burdens brought about by one more deferment.
Ayika later disclosed to Newsmen that he had no hesitations over the deferment yet asked why the court had not had the capacity to sit on the issue for multiple times. He said he was sure of the legitimacy of his triumph at the poll and communicated trust that equity would be conveyed.
“This is about the third opportunity that we wanted this pre-hearing and this is about the third time it was rescheduled. “Yet, no issue, I believe in the legal executive and I am certain that equity will be done,” he said. The Anambra Election Petitions Tribunal got 42 petitions, including eight senatorial, nine House of Representatives and 25 for the State House of Assembly.
